Aja Carr Favors is a data privacy, security, and technology attorney licensed in Illinois, New York, and Texas. She serves on the panel of arbitrators for the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA); and has conducted hundreds of creditors’ meetings as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee in the Northern District of Illinois.

Aja received her mediation training and certification through the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation. She was awarded the Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) designation by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is also a member of the organization. Additionally, Aja holds IAPP designations as a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E).

Aja previously served as Associate General Counsel with a mainstream religious denomination, (working with the organization for nearly 7 years). She has completed numerous data privacy projects, contracts, and agreements; and has also done HIPAA compliance work and OCR reporting for a large health insurance provider. In addition, Aja has led responses to national data incidents.

Aja was appointed to the Illinois African American Families Commission by former Governor Pat Quinn. She was also appointed to the Illinois Medical Disciplinary Board by Governor JB Pritzker. Aja serves on the Northwestern University Alumni Admissions Council, the Bankruptcy Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Consortium, and is a member of the assembly of the Illinois State Bar Association.
